This was a very good movie but a movie that hits really hard. The way human beings treat each other, just because one has more then the other. It is sad but it happens here; not to that extent.
The boys Gonzalo and Pedro were able to develop a friendship and a strong relationship although society did not approve. The bond between the two was strong but in reality the culture they grew up with stuck with them as we seen when the two Gonzalo and pedro would get into a disagreement. The names that called each other would reflect that.
Gonzalo developed a compassion for Pedro and his life early on during the relationship. He seemed to have had sympathy for the poor and the way they were being treated. Gonzalo knew he had more in every way and seemed to want to give to Pedro. The homes they lived in were very different. Pedros was not much more then a shed were Monzalo lived in the nicer area of town. The streets in Pedros part of town were even dirt. Monzalo had lots of nice clothing, Pedro did not. Pedro had to work after school to make money for the family. Monzalo had money to spend any way he wanted.
The family values were very much different but in many was the same. You seen Pedro's father taking there money to go get drunk. And you seen Monzalo's mother cheating on his father. But Monazlo and his sister seem to be close and there was a feeling of love in the home. Pedro had a loving caring mother.
The message I am seeing is that we need to open our eyes and see that just because we are different or some don't have as much as others we all have feeling. Also I am seeing that people we meet in the US may be from Chile and may have come from that error and can be very sensitive to what happened during the 70's and everything to present. The friends I have from South America and very warm compassionate people.
