This film was very hot, I loved it.
The Spanish people, especially the females; are very dramatic and over dramatize everything that happens out of the normal daily routine. ( from my insight being married into a Spanish family for thirteen years.)This movie was a good example of this. The " Magic dramatize" was seen thought the movie starting with the onions, the birth of Tita, down to end of the movie with Tita burning herself to death after the death of her lover, which died in her arms while makeing love to her.
The passions of all were very intense. The Mother's hate fullness and being hard on her daughters, the way she spoke to them and then agreeing to let Pedro marry Tita's sister but not Tita. We seen the magic dramatizm with the of the "black hole " when Tita described the pain she was feeling when Pedro married Rosaura. The speels that were placed on the meals Tita cooked with her emotions she was feeling while she was preparing them.
The film was very well told of the passion Tita and Pedro had for each other and the difficulties they had just being together. Pedro married Tita's sister just to be able to be close to Tita, after was forbidden to marry because she was the youngest daughter.
Pedro and Rosaura was married but did not engage in sex to unify the marriage until three months later and only after Pedro praied and and acked for forgiveness.
Roses were delivered to Tita. Mother insisted Tita through them out. Instead she used them to cook a special meal " chicken with rose sauce". The meal had special powers that let not only Pedro feel Titas passion but everyone that ate it. The blood from the thorns of the roses that scratched Tita was cooked into to sauce. This became an over coming power that seem to turn the heat up just a bit. The magic spell this time being one of passion caused not only Pedro to become a little warm but Gertrudies was so hot she caught the shower house on fire. Then ran off " naked " with the captin.
After Rosaura and Pedros second child and baby girl was born, Rosaura spoke the words that went through Tita. The girl was to never marry because she would be the youngest daughter. Tita prepared a meal for Rosaura. This meal was eventually the cause of Rosauras death.
Several years later in 1938 the baby girl, Esperneda was grown and married. That night Tita chose Pedro over John. Pedro died in Titas arms making love to Tita for the first time that they did not have to hide it from anyone. Tita remembered back to the story that John had told her about the book of matches and burned herself to death along with the body of her lover Pedro.
This was all a story of how a cook book came to be.
